I spent more time living at home last semester than did this Christmas break. Leigh Anne had her tonsils taken out the first day of the break and I've been at her house ever since. I came home on Christmas Eve and left Christmas day, and I finally came home again earlier today (as in Wednesday) which is why you will notice there were quite a few updates today. As for the new comic... well like I said, I haven't been around my computer enough to finish my current batch. Just blame Leigh Anne and her hemorrhaging arteries. Animated GIFs are funny, especially when they are made by Japanese kids with too much free time. I've found quite a few surprises in my Guestbook lately, and I'm not talking about the "burning brown bag" kind of surprise. One of the signatures was from a person who claims to be my cousin that I haven't seen in a decade. Actually he is my mother's cousin's son so that makes us...second cousins? First cousins once removed? I don't know what it makes us, I just know we are related. First of all, I don't know how he found this website, it wasn't mentioned in any of the family letters we sent out. And he didn't leave an e-mail address so I have no way of contacting him. I just think it's cool that long lost relatives are stumbling across this humble website. No telling who will find me next... The other interesting signature was from a fellow lifeguard which I worked with over the summer. Again, I hadn't heard from her since summer ended so it was nice to see her signature. And of course it's also great to see the numerous signatures from our "fan club" at Texas Tech. Your signatures rock! Five years can do wonders to a boy and his dog. Among my Christmas presents I received Mythology by Alex Ross which has some absolutely amazing artwork in it. I always thought this was was an old traditional artist who decided to draw comics the last few years of life, but it turns out that he his a 31 year old comic lover from Lubbock, Texas. And even though I'm a die-hard Marvel fan, I must say his DC artwork is fantastic. Now we just need to convince him to switch companies... Speaking of "die-hard", that was one of the numerous movies Leigh Anne and I watched over the Christmas break. As previously mentioned, she had a tonsillectomy over the break so all we could do was eat ice cream and watch movies the entire time. During these past few weeks I have introduced her to the marvels of the Die Hard trilogy, The Usual Suspects, Equilibrium, The Matrix, Fight Club, Metropolis (anime), The Lion King (dvd), Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Super Troopers, The World According to Garp (book and movie), The Shield (season 1), and others which currently escape my memory. In return I watched her favorite old movies like "The life and death of Colonel Blimp" and "Father Goose". If you ask me, I got the better side of the deal with that one since we watched thirteen of my films compared to her two. And we still have the rest of The Shield season one to watch, plus all of Steven Spielberg's Taken. It's going to be a busy last few days before school starts! Since I've already mentioned Mythology and some the movies I received for Christmas, I might as well list everything else. My gifts included: Lord of the Rings:FotR and Two Towers Extended DVDs, Arc the Lad Collection (thank god my mother discovered eBay), Final Fantasy X-2, picture frames with family pictures, clothes, a travel bag (for my frequent travels to Leigh Anne's place), Lon Chaney DVD collection, some sentimental (aka personal) gifts, a cheerleader calendar signed by my cousin (Lisa) and her teammates, a portable art easel, and the Final Fantasy VII piano collections sheet music. I'm sure I'm leaving something out but it's early in the AM and supposedly my IQ is halved due to my lack of sleep. Bucky used "McGuyver" as verb, that makes me laugh. Well that and shaved, purple chinchillas, but that's neither here nor there. This entire break my mother has been contradicting herself and confusing me. The last few weeks of school when I was working on projects at the house she was saying mordant phrases like "Boy, I can't wait until school starts again and you move out" and then she was counting down the days until I moved out. Now after spending my entire Christmas break at Leigh Anne's house instead of my house she is complaining that I'm never there. Geez, mothers are so confusing. *This space is reserved for more random blurbs by Jay after he's through procrastinating and playing Disgaea*
