Politics Again: What You Shouldn’t Trust Politicians On

   Okay, so we’ve discussed the basics of political terms, now it’s time to focus on an issue that affects us all, and that we should trust no politician on until they prove otherwise.  Folks, I’m talking about an issue that both makes this country great, but is also going to drag it down eventually.  I’m talking immigration.

 Over Xmas break, President Bush (whom I normally agree with whole-heartedly) unveiled a worker’s visa program for illegal aliens.  This program is put very basically, a work for a visa program.  This will allow illegal aliens to come here and take the jobs that you and I cannot afford to work for a minimum wage and do them here in the country legally, while not necessarily having to leave.  Sounds good?  Of course it doesn’t.  But  Mexican President Vicente Fox was all over the news proclaiming the values of this program to “the world” (meaning Mexico and other countries that harbor illegals until they cross the border into America) and how it will strengthen our ties with the world abroad.  Sound like someone was getting the long end of the stick?  Well, if it weren’t for the fact that El Stealero (Fox) is already doing all kinds of things to our friends in Texas, Arizona, New Mexico, and California anyway, then I might not be so pissed.  But friends, the solution is not to open our borders wider to allow more attackers and those with inbred hatred of our beloved America!  No, instead the answer is to move forward into an era of closed borders with strict and enforced policies towards illegal immigration. 

 Here is the major problem with Bush’s program: it punishes those who come here legally, while giving a free hand to those who already disrespect our laws.  If you give little Johnny a candy bar after he SLAMMED HIS FIST THROUGH JILL’S FACE, CRUSHING HER NOSE INTO HER BRAIN SO THAT SHE’S A VEGETABLE FOR LIFE AT BEST, then what kind of a message are you sending to Johnny?  One of, yes Johnny, ATTACKING PEOPLE AND KILLING THEM IS MOST PERFECTLY ACCEPTABLE AND WE ACTUALLY WANT YOU TO DO IT AGAIN AND AGAIN AND AGAIN!  That my friends, just happens to be what President Bush is doing to the people around the world.  The President is allowing people to just walk into the country undetected and burrow in until they look like each of us and the already incompetent INS can’t find them to root them out and deport them.  Do you know that most legal immigrants who come here must pass a citizenship test (one that most of us couldn’t pass), spend 7-8 years here before becoming actual citizens, and even before that they must spend 7-8 years in another country just to be processed to be allowed to immigrate here!  Sound like a long process to you?  Well it is, and by allowing fence jumpers from Mexico to just come here and then stay because they have children is not the answer!

 The question becomes, “What do you want the government to do about it, Paul?”  I have the answer in two parts.  First, block the borders of Canada and Mexico with… the MILITARY!  YAY!  50 Helicopters armed with troops patrolling the borders and shooting those who are trying to cross illegally would sure deter me!  The next part is simply: DEPORT THE ILLEGALS!  YES!  Now most of you are looking at the screen with loathing and disgust, or with the realization that common sense just might overcome right now.  But unfortunately I agree, it does suck for the children that have been born in America by illegal immigrant parents.  We could even let the kids stay if they chose to.  No problem, but their parents are gonna have to go.  Bye bye.  Shouldn’t have come here in the first place by disobeying the laws.

 Next topic.  California has 55 electoral votes and members of congress.  12 of those votes and members come from illegal immigrants who were counted in the census.  If those 12 had gone to the states with actual legal population growth such as: Montana, Texas, New Mexico, and Wyoming?! to name a few, then there wouldn’t have even needed to be a recount in Florida in 2000.  Why?  Because all of those votes would have made Bush come out ahead of Gore with or without Florida.  As it stands, California is now disproportionately represented in the congress, which means that state (financially bankrupt as it is) has more representation than YOU do in government.  Like someone else having a bigger vote than you?  I sure don’t.

 For my last point, this is what makes politicians evil.  ALL politicians (with few if any exceptions) view illegal immigrants as a huge free pot of votes.  They clamor over each other to offer the biggest amnesty bills and other handout of OUR MONEY to ILLEGAL ALIENS, all in an effort to stay in their corrupt offices.  This is true of Republicans, Democrats, nearly everyone with an office on capitol hill.  What’s the moral of this story?  Call your congressman.  Tell them how you want them to vote, and if they don’t, let them know you want them replaced and do it.  Maybe with someone as noble as yourself.
