To DC and Back

Ladies and Gentlemen!  I the most exuberant Coloradoan have just returned from seeing the world!  Well, actually just Washington DC, but for those of you who have never set foot outside of this state and Texas, that is quite a feat.  Anyway, the very reason I have been so dry on writing for my, oh so demanding roommate here on the rants is for this very reason.  I have spent the majority of my free time (outside of the job and school) organizing, fine-tuning,  preparing, spotting, and all those other magical words that make up the term planning this trip for myself and 4 of my political mates.

Well, that trip was recently taken.  January 20th-25th, marked my first trip to the annual CPAC (Conservative Political Action Convention) where I spent the remainder of the week and the weekend listening to great political orators, attempting to catch Presidential motorcades, marveling at the various memorials, almost getting mugged, and drinking in the knowledge offered by some of the greatest museums of all time, the Smithsonians!

Most interesting, of course, to the ladies is the fact that there is really great shopping in DC!  With 2 malls within walking distance of subway stops, it’s almost nirvana for you shopaholics.  For the rest of us, there is plenty to be enjoyed.

My personal favorite experience of the week was definitely the American Holocaust Memorial and Museum.  This is a very intense experience and is not one that should be taken lightly.  If you enter the museum simply expecting to read about people who have died whom you believe to be people just written about, don’t go here.  In fact, your time might be better spent at the malls.  But for myself, this is simply an amazing place that has awesome return value.  If I spent a whole day there I would probably still not have examined everything I wanted to.  I recommend it.

Other things that are extremely cool are the Iwo Jima Monument (which is freakin huge!) and the Lincoln Monument.  Do the Lincoln at night, as it is most definitely more humbling then.

My only complaint actually comes from the end of the trip.  My trip actually went from the 20th-27th.  Why, you ask?  Well, I spent a few unscheduled days in Charlotte, NC (the Super Bowl was my revenge) due to unscheduled flight cancellations (wait a minute!  When are those things SCHEDULED?!).  As you can imagine, spending a few days in any building, no matter how interesting it may be,  is a PAIN IN THE BUTT!  And for anyone wondering, don’t EVER FLY USAIRWAYS!  ON PAIN OF DEATH WILL I EVER FLY USAIRWAYS BY CHOICE EVER AGAIN!  That’s right folks, USAirways is going under, and I would like to lend them a hand in that by announcing now on this happy land known as the Internet (invented by Al “The Talking Tree” Gore) that they have the worst customer service, crappiest jets, and most unaccommodating  accommodations in the history of air service.  MAY I BE STRUCK DOWN WITH MONKEYPOX IF I EVER FLY USAIRWAYS AGAIN!  Is that all out of my system?  I hope so.
