Rest and Relaxation

Ahh, the winter break.  As with most breaks you get in college you look forward to it but about four days into it you find that you miss the ones you call friends.  In my case this is no exception.  Fortunately for me I have the perfect solution to this problem: spending a week in Ft. Worth with my girlfriend.  I have recently returned home from this trip but I had such a good time there that I’m going to share it with all of you here; don’t you all feel so lucky?

I left from the oh, so humble town of Paris on the 27th and made the trip to her house.  Because it was the day after our three-month anniversary I took Jen out for a night on the town.  After a clarification as to what “light traffic” meant we arrived at Pappadoux’s for dinner.  For those that don’t know this restaurant it is a very good, if expensive, seafood place.  After gorging ourselves it was time to go downtown and see the movie.  I will admit that at first I had reservations about seeing this movie, but when it was over I was absolutely impressed by it.  The acting was fantastic and the score was so good I have since bought it. The name of the movie was Peter Pan and I do suggest that you go and see it.  For a first day out of Paris I must say that already I was having a good time.

Over the following week I managed to catch up on all of the “chick flicks” that I had somehow missed over the years and prudence demands that I stop this line of thought here.  Also, I found that my new found bad luck at games has not in any way diminished.  At the New Year’s party at her house there were several games played to pass the time.  Of these I somehow managed to lose at the battle of the sexes and once again to the dreaded game of monopoly.  Call it Fate, Karma, or just Bad Luck but I can’t seem to win this game.  The bright part of the night was with a card game called Phase Ten.  In this game you have various hands you have to play in order to progress to the next phase.  I am happy to report that yours truly came from behind to crush all opposition and win.  I guess one out of three isn’t so bad.  Oh, and in case you were wondering what my new year’s resolution was I didn’t make one. A few years ago I grew tired of breaking them so I resolved that I would make no more resolutions. So far I have kept that one.

Well there you have all the major events of the week. On the whole it was a very laid back and relaxing trip. So, now I find myself trying to finish the books I got for Christmas and sleeping as much as possible before the next semester starts. So for now that’s all you get as I’m going back to doing as little as possible.
