The Beast of 8th Street Revisited

Well to recap, in my last rant I mentioned the so called beast of 8th Street that was pillaging my garbage every Monday and Thursday on trash day. The very next day after writing that rant my girlfriend Heather and I were loading up the car to take a week long vacation. Well it just so happened that this day was a Monday and I had of course set my garbage next to the curb as always and while in the process of loading I caught something out of the corner of my eye and down the sidewalk came…… two little puppies, one most white and the other brown for the most part. They must have belonged to someone down the street, which house I did not know. While all that Heather could think and say was “awww, they’re so cute!” the only thing that crossed my mind was the obvious prey of they’re pursuit as they ran towards us. As I stood there speechless and not knowing what to do they began jumping and playing on the two bags of trash laying a few feet from me, some beast right? Well I couldn’t just stand there so I picked one of the little pups up in one hand and set him down a couple feet away and told him “no!”. Well as you can imagine he merely glanced up at me and then pounced back onto the unsuspecting bags. Well while I argued that they weren’t cute at all considering they were ripping my trash bags open right in front of me all Heather could do is say “Look, they’re having so much fun, it’s like a puppy playground!” “They are not cute, they’re responsible for sprawling my garbage across the front yard every week!” I replied. Soon Heather was sitting in the passenger’s seat sideways with the door open petting and playing with them. So with no other option I simply continued to put the luggage in the car and decided I wasn’t up to guarding my trash when I had a vacation to get to. So needless to say we drove off watching the puppies in the rearview mirrors hoping they would soon give up and my trash would stay intact.

As for my vacation I had a blast and got a chance to relax and have fun outside the restrictions of Arkadelphia, Arkansas. Since my rants have been few and far between I will hopefully get a chance to write another this weekend. My life isn’t particularly exciting or full of mishaps but then again I’m thankful for that.
