The Beast of 8th Street

I started off my summer by moving into my first apartment. All things considered it went extremely smooth and there has been little to gripe about which overall is a good deal but when it comes to thinking of rants it leaves me in a bit of a bind. The neighborhood is quiet, simple and altogether a pleasant experience, but as with all good stories there’s a problem, and in this particular situation the conflict involves me, a dog, and my garbage. As cliché as it sounds every Tuesday and Thursday on trash day my bag or two of garbage goes out to the curb and whether I take it out the night before or that morning without fail I’ll stop in for lunch and whether the trash has or hasn’t ran I come home to a lawn of ravaged trash slung everywhere. Some might say simply wait until later before putting it outside which is all good and dandy except I’m never sure at what time the garbage truck will run on any given Tuesday/Thursday. Now I have not actually gotten the pleasure of catching the culprit in the act but the day of sweet revenge may be soon at hand. I haven’t even seen a loose animal wandering around the neighborhood, save for the occasional stray cat. If it was in fact a cat then it is one heck of a cat and I’m not sure any number of things could stop it. For all you animal lovers out there don’t worry I wouldn’t actually harm the wretched little thing but it still puts a smile on my face to imagine hurling a small object while catching it in the act and hear it whine as it scurries off down the street. Well I’ll end it here and will be sure to let you know what develops.
