Ever feel as though the rainy days will
never end? So far this summer Arkadelphia seems to stay rather moist, with
each day blending in with the next as the rain keeps pouring down. Last I
checked we’re under thunderstorm warnings more then not and although summer
has its obvious advantages compared to the school year there are still those
slight imperfections as with everything. We all probably openly look forward
towards the summer while at school, counting down the days and constantly
wishing it would end. I feel all of us, some more then others, wish it would
stay just a little longer. No matter where you spend your summer you still
find yourself with the occasional downtime that leaves you bored and wishing
you were still back in the dorms with someone to talk to 24/7. More
importantly then the things are the people we miss, from that special
someone to that roommate of yours who you just love to hate sometimes, we
all have someone we miss now and then, and sure we might be lucky enough to
see them occasionally throughout the break but it’ll never be as fun as
those weekends at college when we get together and do those crazy and goofy
things college students are meant to do.
We’re a rare breed, I mean come on, who else do you know that finds
pleasure in attending Waffle House at 3am or the countless nights spent
watching movies until someone fell asleep (ok, so maybe I was the one that
always fell asleep but what would it be like without it?), or those crappy
movies you can’t help but MST3K. Movies are a crucial element in being a
college student, especially when that college is in Arkadelphia. Your
options as a penniless student are: the previously mentioned movie, or
wandering around Wal-mart at absurd hours finding the stupidest things
hilarious beyond belief. Well I guess the real meaning of this rant is that
everything comes with a price, even summer, and although I’ll enjoy every
last day of 12 hour sleep I can get there’s always the things we tend to
miss.
