Okay, Jay wants me to write a rant; and it’s not like I don’t have plenty of material so here goes.

If you are reading this site, you probably know me personally (who else reads this but our friends), and so you know that I was planning on transferring to Rutgers in order to pursue a degree in German as Henderson doesn’t offer a major for that. You know the stages that I went through, finding universities and narrowing it down to the one to which I wanted to apply. You tolerated my perpetual nervous state when I was waiting to see if I was accepted, and put up with my ecstatic tendencies upon finding out that I had been accepted. Then the phase of worry as to how I was going to pay for it set in.

I kept my hopes up through the worry and applied for financial aid and searched for scholarships. Unfortunately, there are not a lot of scholarships for transfer students so my luck there pretty much fizzled out and died. I still have federal aid and FASFA open, so I broke down and filled out a FASFA hoping that my parents didn’t make enough money to make me ineligible.

Unfortunately, they do. The only option open to me was student loans, and that was financial suicide. Out of state tuition for Rutgers was approximately $25,000 a year, and I estimated that it would take three years to finish my degree. Leaving school with $75,000 debt is NOT a good idea. So I had to withdraw.

Yes, that means I will be coming back to Henderson. If you talked to Jay, you probably already know this as I needed someone to talk to and called him sobbing. It took me three tries to speak clearly enough so that he could understand just what my incoherent rambling was supposed to be.

There Jay, you got your rant. I will see all of you guys when school starts. And I had better get my old rant spot (second from the top) back. I don’t want Paul there anymore. (jay's note: I don't think any of us do :)
