Bottle Rocket Wars

Yes, folks it's that time of year. You know, with fireworks and
such. Well I was innocently watching Rurouni Kenshin (waits for people to
get done laughing about me doing anything innocently) when a few friends
show up and invite me to their annual 'I-have-more-testosterone-than-you'
contest entitled bottle rocket wars. This is the first year that I actually
participated instead of preparing the band-aids and peroxide. Well, I
sort of participated. They didn't want to actually fire at me, 'cause I was
a girl. And since I have absolutely no honor or scruples, I used this to my
complete advantage. They got over that idea of not shooting at me very
quickly. Fortunately, there have been no ER visits due to this insane
practice, but we do use a lot of band-aids and peroxide. Speaking of
fireworks, I really wish that whoever is shooting them off right now would
stop. If I was a normal person, instead of a horrible insomniac, it would
wake me up. But as I am still awake, I just fined them horribly annoying. As
for the other issues, well issue actually, it is a topic that I have ranted
about several times to several different people. My name. Okay, I would like
to think that Brenna is a fairly simple name. It's not long or complicated,
and it's phonetic, SO WHY CAN'T PEOPLE EVER GET IT RIGHT!!!!!!! Whenever I
am in a situation where name tags are required (heart start, anime
convention, etc.) the scenario is usually as follows:
Stupid Person: So... <pause to look at name tag> Brenda <insert lame
conversation attempt here>
Me: There's no 'd'.
SP: What?
M: You said Brenda, but there's no 'd' in my name
SP: <Another pause to look at name tag> Sorry, Breanna.
M: You added an extra 'a' this time.
SP: <Yet another nametag pause> Oh, so it's Breena.
M: I give up. <walks away>
Even
my teachers in school, and now professors in college, can't get my name
right on the first try, and for some second, third, fourth tries are still
incorrect. For a while, I even went by my middle name (Anna) because my name
issues got to be so frustrating. But I didn't really like that, so I am
Brenna again, stress and all.
