John and his Sax

This was a caricature of a good friend of mine that I created for his Junior recital brochure.  Unfortunately a snow storm prevented me from sending it to him in time for his recital, so instead I converted it into a desktop.  Oddly enough drawing John was harder than drawing his sax.  At first I thought all of the contraptions on the sax would drive me nuts, but I actually spent more time drawing John's face than I did anything else. Unlike my other original comic characters, I know exactly how John looks and if I drew just one thing that did not convey his John-ness I would start all over.  It was hard but I finally came up with something that resembled John and sent it to him.  And it was all worth it because he loved it and said it looked exactly like him which boosted my ego another 10 notches... (oh no, critical overload, run!!!!)
