Musical Connections
How everything in my life is connected by music

Somehow everything I do in life revolves around music in some way. In fact every section on this site has some connection to music.  This page is for those of you too lazy to go to each section and figure out what that connection is.

Movies- Not exactly a section on this website, but this is probably the best hobby of mine that helps explain my taste in music.  If you were to look at my CD collection you will find mostly soundtracks from movies and/or games. My reasoning on this is music makes up 50% of any movie's impact on you.  Most people think of the visuals when they think of a movie, but until you have watched a movie with "Mute" on then you don't realize how important music is.  Movies bring out emotions in people, and the music helps them to do that. Therefore, when I listen to certain pieces from a soundtrack, I am reminded about the movie the music is from and the emotions I experienced while watching that movie. Whenever I hear the Jurassic Park music I am reminded of the first time I saw that movie as an 11 year old totally immersed in dinosaurs.  The same goes for my other soundtracks, they all remind me of certain emotions I experienced while watching the movie.  Then again no that many movies really move me either, only a select few, which is why I only have around 20 soundtracks rather than 2000.

Games- Exactly the same as Movies, I love game soundtracks for the emotions they invoke.  Most of the games I play are 40 hours long and involve a huge story, which gets me more involved with the music.  Movies only have 2 hours to get you to love the music, while games give you as long as you need.  You aren't restrained to a certain amount of time to tell a story in a game, so you can take as long as you want and bring more emotions into the game.  For this reason, I really enjoy video games music, because I connect to it more since I will put more time into a game than a movie.  Plus current game music is all synthesized, it doesn't sound as good as it would if it were performed by a full orchestra.  That's where my other soundtracks come from: Alot of the current games have CD's with music from the game performed by orchestras or piano players.  Just hearing that music that use to be electronic played my real people is the 2nd best feeling in the world (don't think I need to say what the 1st best feeling is).

Art- My artwork uses the above descriptions to their full effect.  By listening to soundtrack music while I draw, I, uh, "draw" upon the emotions that each song invokes with it's reminiscent power.  Basically, whatever piece of music I am listening to will remind me of the movie/game it accompanied and the emotion said movie/game generated in me. I created an "Art Mix" with a mixture of songs on it that each bring a different emotion in me, thus my artwork becoming more diversified.  If I were to listen to just one genre of music, then my artwork would only have one style to it depending on what I was listening to.  Thus I try to rotate the genres I listen to when I draw. Need more explanation? Too bad, I'm moving on  ;)

Ramblings-  basically the same as above: different emotions invoke different styles of writings from me.

Friends-  Actually all my friends know me somehow through music. Some of them I met through band, others know I play some musical instruments, while others know I can tell the difference between music and complete silence 2 out of 3 times.   Few of my friends actually find and listen to the same Final Fantasy music on their own, but many actually have Final Fantasy music whether they know it or not.  Alot of time people ask for mp3s of the pieces I play on the piano, and I give it to them, but I never say where they are from.  Same with my Art Mix: many art students ask me for one and I give each one of them a copy, but I try to refrain from saying where each piece originates.

Music- Well this connection is obvious, isn't it?

Links- I have a section devoted to music, capiche?

Well the rest of the explanations probably involve me insulting the reader some more so I will end it there. Hope you understand my musical life better now.
