Series

My final project in Drawing 2 was to create a series (pictures of the same subject that relate to each other) of 8 pictures.  I called my series "Sadyistically Black" because all of my pieces involved my black Labrador-Beagle mix named Sady.   I took at least 50 photos of the dogs (the other being a pure-blooded Beagle) and when I got them developed I noticed something about Sady.  Since she was all black (save for a single white paw) the only way you could tell her physical definitions was by looking at the reflection of the camera's flash off of her black coat.  I decided to use this to my advantage and purchased quite a few sheets of black paper.  I then used metallic paint and just drew her reflections on the black paper.  Not satisfied with just that I proceeded to find different mediums to portray her.  I completed nearly 20 different pieces in this fashion, and used materials such as metallic spray paint, contrasto paper, metallic puff paint, white chalk, and a black reflective "mirror" poster so shiny you cold see your reflection in it.  Of course not every picture turned out like I wanted them to, and some of my first paintings were horrid since painting with puff paint was quite a bit more difficult than using acrylics (which I am horrible with anyways).  Unfortunately, each picture I posted here is not in its full form since I could only scan 20 x 10 inches and every piece was on  24 x 18 paper. Then again, all you are missing is just a black border on most of the pieces.  Not only that, by for some reason the scanner always put reflections on a random edge on my pictures so you may notice a color difference on one edge of every piece.  I used Photoshop to fix that were I could, but I only used it on the black paper areas. If the scanner started reflecting off of my paint then I just let it be since I didn't want to alter the actual paintings themselves.  Anyways I hope you enjoy my series, and if you have any questions about them feel free to write me!

P.S Before anyone asks about the "stars" picture, just try to look for a Sady constellation.
